POKOTABI / rin
やきとり とり鍋 輪
This izakaya serves chicken in many forms, from its ‘wa no nabe’ hot pot, available for one, to yakitori and chicken sashimi. Settle in around a pot or choose skewers to suit your taste.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Would you rather share a hot pot or make skewers the centre of the meal? At rin, chicken dishes offer both options. The listed ‘wa no nabe’ hot pot can be ordered for one and costs 1,500 yen. Add-ons include chicken, a platter of vegetables, tofu, Chinese noodles and a rice-porridge set, making it easy to build a meal around the pot.
One diner recalls having chicken hot pot with vegetables, tofu and mushrooms alongside yakitori. They described ordering a number of skewers and specifying their preferred soup, then leaving the rest to the restaurant. Staff asked whether offal was welcome and suggested how much to order at first. For a group that wants to try both hot pot and skewers, it can be enjoyable to explain your preferences and order a little at a time. The hot-pot course also lists a choice of chicken paitan hot pot or hinemo chicken mizutaki.
For anyone more interested in sampling skewers and small plates than having a hot pot, another diner’s account of the chicken sashimi and grilled dishes may be appealing. The sashimi made with yagen cartilage had a crunchy texture and went well with sesame oil, they said. Skewers of chicken thigh and seseri (chicken neck meat), as well as grilled thigh from mature chicken, also stood out. Fried options on the menu include fried chicken wings, young-chicken karaage and chicken tenderloin cheese spring rolls. For a quick bite between skewers, spicy cucumber or chicken breast with ponzu are among the choices.
Dinner reservations are recommended, and bookings are accepted. Whether you’re gathering around a hot pot or choosing chicken sashimi and grilled dishes one plate at a time, you can build your meal around the chicken dishes that appeal to you.
